Voice From the Lockdown

As covid-19 sweeps the world, many governments have put their countries into lockdown.  "So what are you doing while stuck at home Isaac?" You may ask...  well, I have done many new things since the lockdown. Firstly, I have been filming and editing digitised courses for my dad.  My dad is a trainer and for obvious reasons can't get out and about at the moment so, we locked ourselves in a room for three weeks and committed his life's work to film - which is now in the process of getting him up and running again! As for myself, just before the crisis hit, I had started teaching twilight Pi-Top and Raspberry Pi sessions in schools and various other institutions.  Again, this too has come to a (temporary) end, leaving me no alternative but to film my workshops and offer them up as pre recorded online training, the first of which is being filmed on Friday...  by my tech phobic dad...  it's a good job I know how to teach him!  So far I have received po

“I’ve been waiting 14 years for these!” A Livio AI Story By AI_saacPI

14 years? Really? So what happened?  When I was a little bitty baby my mother had concerns about my hearing. I wasn’t responding to sound and she was convinced that I was deaf. So… off I went to the audiologist for the relevant tests and passed all of them with flying colours – much to the bewilderment of my family. But, despite this, there we were busy learning British Sign Language, Cued Speech and anything else that caught my parents’ eye that might help me.  After years of testing, still nothing was found, still registering with perfect hearing, and still not hearing well. Until… My dad was given Livio AI hearing aids. “These are good son” (an honest albeit brief review).  So, we got in touch with Starkey’s, who referred me back to Claire Benton from the fabulous audiology team at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, who agreed that Livio AI might just be the thing. “This is good son” said my dad (in summary of 14 years of hearing problems and a potentia

I got interested in Pi-Top during a visit to BETT 2017. In fact I was so inspired I submitted and had published a review of the show and in particular Pi-Top in The Week Junior. Following this, I received my first Pi-Top as a Christmas present in December 2017. A rather magnificent Pi-Top Ceed! After a particularly stressful start (in my excitement - I had made a right mess of the set up), I really got stuck in. My first port of call was to get some more in depth experiences of using Python, which I had been using in lessons at school for the past year, but not to any great level of proficiency or detail. The Pi-Top Ceed certainly gave me the opportunity to take more risks in the coding world. Gaining confidence with Python ultimately led me to explore more of the features of Pi-Top, in particular – Pi-Top Coder.  In January 2018, I visited BETT for a second time. This time I had a mission, to meet the Pi- Top team, to find out more about Pi-Top and to write another article
