A Little Spot of Shopping

The Raspberry Pi store in Cambridge is a funny thing to consider. A brick and mortar store selling an item that is so heavily based on the internet and the digital world. Surely this is a concept that shouldn't work but it does (extremely well in fact) so well, that I have been back 4 or 5 times yet I still find it extremely interesting every single time I visit.

Normally I go when I am working on a project which I need parts for. Rather than buying cheaply made parts from eBay or Amazon that I may not be able to trust, therefore I prefer to buy something which I can see before I commit to a purchase. Previously though I have been to take part in specific events which the shop holds very often. These events are extremely useful for learning new skills with the raspberry pi and I cannot recommend them highly enough. They are free, educational and a lot of fun for beginners and veterans to the Raspberry Pi system alike.

What can you buy in this most interesting of boutiques? you may ask. Well you can buy all sorts of things in the shop, including items from highly trusted companies such as pimoroni and adafruit. You can also purchase store exclusives like the beautifully well designed Ras Pi keyboard and mouse set or the Raspberry Pi starter kit, this includes a Raspberry Pi, all of the cables you need, a case to keep your PC cozy and a starter guide similar to the 'for dummies' titles. You can even buy merchandise such as t-shirts, mugs and bags which are not available anywhere else.

There are demo stations to show you all of the current models of the Pi, similar to the way Apple stores have iPads and laptops plugged in for you to try. They even offer schemes that give you freebies like magpi magazine and tote bags if you spend certain amounts of money (which is easy to do, you will find plenty of interesting things to buy).

So, if you ever find yourself in Cambridge or if you just have a free day and you want to learn something new, I completely recommend the Raspberry Pi store. Trust me it is brilliant.
